Mt. Kanetsukido (Kanetsukidoyama)

Mt. Kanetsukido is a low mountain located on the eastern end of the mountain ridge connecting Mt. Fudosan and Mt. Jinmizan, marking the entrance to the Chichibu Region in Yorii Town, Saitama Prefecture. Though the town border with Fukaya City, the actual triangulation station lies within Yorii Town.

To the south below, one can look out over the ruins of Bushu Hachigata Castle, a mountain fortress utilizing natural topography. Mt. Kanetsukido was a lookout point for Hachigata Castle known as “Kanetsukido” (Bell Pavilion), where alarms were sounded by hitting bells. The summit provides expansive views of the Kanto Plains to the east and the Oku-Chichibu Mountains to the south.

Major hiking routes start from Yorii Station on JR Hachiko Line, Tobu Tojo Line or the Chichibu Railway, heading towards Taisho Pond entrance. After passing through Boki-no-uchi, the 1.5 hour roundtrip climb follows a small ridge lined with mixed forests up to the summit.
