Mt. Happusan

Happusan, standing at an elevation of 627 meters, is located between Minano Town and Chichibu City in Saitama Prefecture. Its name, suggesting the shape of a gable roof, reflects the mountain's distinctive silhouette. From the summit, one can enjoy breathtaking views of the Chichibu Basin and the mountains of Outer Chichibu. Notably, the pilgrimage route connecting the 33rd and 34th sacred sites of the Chichibu 34 Kannon Sacred Grounds passes near the summit.
There are several trails for hikers, including routes that pass through Sazareishi Pass and start from Suizenji, or follow the ridge from Tenguyama to Omaeyama. Starting from the northeast at Kazedo Entrance, it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the summit, and similarly from the southeast along the Akahira River from Nomaki. Additionally, there's a route from the south through Sakuragaike Village that follows a roadway to the summit. This area is also part of the "Kanto Friendship Trail," known for its scenic natural walkways.
